How you look and present yourself, as an exotic dancer or feature entertainer is so very important. Obviously your look is going to be the first thing a customer visiting the club will notice about you. If he likes what he sees the next step is usually talking to them and then hopefully doing a dance for them. This is ultimately how exotic dancers make their money. So this section is dedicated to all the companies, services and products that pertain to your look in the hair, skin and makeup division.
To all of you who feel you don’t need to wear makeup while at work, you’re wrong! Makeup is to enhance and bring out your features while on stage away from people under the lights. With out the foundation, blush, fake eyelashes, eyeliner, eye shadows and a great lipstick your images are barley seen up on that stage. You should strive for a perfect, flawless image. This is unattainable without using makeup. The products I mentioned above are just the basics. Most successful entertainers use much more on their face and body then what I even mentioned. You need to stand out in a room full of other beautiful women and knowing what to apply and how to apply it is key to doing just that. Of course your personality and attitude come into play here as well, but with out make up you will present a very average appearance. That’s ok if you only are in this business to make average amounts of money. Most dancers I know want to make bank!
You need to start with good skin. Drinking lots of water is so important. Most people are dehydrated and don’t even realized it. Young dancers who drink alcohol or smoke don’t even know it yet but your skin is paying dearly for this. Trust me you’ll notice it in a few years, it definitely will catch up to you. Using a good day and night cleanser, toner and moisturizer are again just the basics you absolutely should be doing now no matter what your age.
Hair can make or break a look. That’s why most entertainers have hair extensions put in or wear hairpieces that clip into the hair. Men love long, silky, sexy hair. Ladies you are there to create the fantasy, so create it! Make sure you have a good cut, color, shape and length to your hair. If you have thin or short hair I would highly recommend good hair extensions or clip in hairpieces. What you use, how it is attached and who is attaching it are all very important; some types will damage your hair terribly. Hair extensions or hairpieces vary drastically in quality. You have choices in using real hair compared to fake hair. Glued in or sewn in. Start with an expert in this field. Most of the girls I represent will travel great distances to have their hair done. Those girls have great looking hair that I wouldn’t even know they had extensions if they hadn’t told me. If you decide to get hair extensions I would suggest using whom they use. Quality is key!
